watch cases on display

on Fri Oct 07 2016, 21:00
I have being looking through my watches and realised I have quite a few of older watch cases all intact with dials and hands etc but they dont work. the thing is they are to nice to bin so I have decided to buy a box frame and display the watch heads in the frame a bit like this

but with maybe say 6 heads in in two rows of three .

I will let you know how it goes Very Happy

Cool idea John, will you mount the watches so they will be hung from the wall?

Thats the plan Steve just not so sure how to mount them yet , I was thinking of glue dots that the crafty people use but not sure if they would hold up a watch case

I doubt it as well, but a hot glue gun would, and it wouldn't damage the watch case either.

If I can find a long narrow box frame I think 4 or 5 pocket watches in a row would look good. I just need to buy

a) long narow box frame
b) 4 or 5 non running pocket watches lol! lol!

A very good idea & I like them both.

If the frame back (backboard) was of sufficient depth / strength it may be possible to screw in small hooks from which pocket watches could be hung. That would allow the watches to be changed around & if working it would be like a miniature wall clock.

It is very reliant though on the hooks being 100% secure to safely hang the watch(es).

The idea of tiny hooks is very good I may just do that once I buy myself some pocket watches Smile

My wife has just won this auction for me so will be getting them at christmas , the plan is to keep one of the pocket watches as a centre piece in a frame then dismantle the other movements and arrange the parts in the frame also
