Looks good and I like the chain mail style bracelet.

I'm still trying to understand "modding".

I appreciate you are customising it to a particular style. By doing so does that add, detract or have no effect to the "value" or "desirability" of the watch?
Do you retain the parts that are changed so the watch can be put back in its original condition / design if selling?
If buying are there concerns about how well the work has been completed or the quality of the new parts used?

Apologies for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand the various pros and cons.  scratch

i am building one that will be considerably more expensive than a standard SKX007, but will have far superior parts to the standard watch so from that perspective IMO is worth more than the standard watch, but any potential buyer [ i am not selling ] would need to be aware of the improvements over standard and understand the additional costs ...i suspect that would need to buy a watch enthusiast........this will be built using new case, bezel, crystal, movement, uprated crown and all seals etc so its not going to be a modded existing watch
as for quality..........i would be very suspicious of the mountain of modded watch that have been "expertly serviced and refurbished"....but thats just me Wink

Thanks Bruce, that is helpful.Very Happy

I suppose I am more used to older watches. For the likes of Omega for example changed hands, dials etc can be regarded by some as a negative even if they have enhanced the look of the watch.

I can understand putting together a watch when you are buying all the parts for both quality and design. It was more changing elements of an existing branded watch that I wasn't getting my head around. I thought originality was key to any watch and replacing parts would be as necessary & purely like for like. That said all types of things can be modded or customised so why not watches. Wink

I would never buy a modded watch from someone I didnt know as I would have no idea how good the work was put together . For me owning a modded watch is a good feeling i know for example that my Seiko Squiggle is a one off and that there is no other like it .

i owned a white dialed Seiko 5 but found it difficult to read the time sometimes because it was hard to see the silver hands on the white dial so I changed the dial over to a blue one and do not have a problem reading the time now .. it was a little mod but still a mod

I do love your Seiko "squiggle" and can understand that the change is an enhancement and makes it unique which is special. The changes to the Seiko 5 made the time easy to read so the watch can now be used and enjoyed. You did well being able to source and replace the dial. Very Happy

I understand knowledge / experience is important to be able to recognise if a watch has been modded as well as having trust / confidence with the seller. I have to say though that it must be very satisfying to be able to customise a watch yourself to the exact design that you want. Very Happy

Very smart.  I like the linen dial and the design / layout of the day and date windows which I don't think I have seen before. Very Happy

totally agree, its stunning, outside of the factories in China churning our dross....Seiko must have the biggest range of watches of any manufacturer........if not they certainly used to have
