Horology plans for 2017

on Wed Dec 14 2016, 21:25
what do you all have planned for 2017 as far as your collections go .... any plans to sell any ... buy the holy grail watch you have waited for .. change the way your collection may be heading ??

For me I have decided to find something a little different to store my watches in .. not entirely sure what yet but when I see it I will know .

Also I have plans to get the Invicta quartz working with a new movement and new hands

I would like to also have another Invicta modded this

to this

not much else planned as such apart from the odd purchase of a watch here and there

whats your plans ??

Ok I am not a wealthy person by far by a Rolex explorer 2 white has always been a watch that I have admired , yes it's stupidly expensive and I could never afford or justify a new one but a second hand one is something that I would love to own and to be honist something that I would enjoy as much as a orient

is it one of these Andy

I am not a Rolex watch kind of man but that one is very nice and I can see why it would be an end game watch .

No obvious plans. For me collecting has always been liking what I come across rather what I am wanting to find if that makes sense.

That said I have become quite interested in vintage LED watches so they would be a temptation if the opportunity arose. The Zenith Futur time command is a beautiful watch though I doubt I will find one now.

I've got similar plans to Andy though I've been looking at second hand explorers with black dial, or alternatively the Tudor Black Bay. I'm yet to confess to the other half it's coming out of the much needed new car fund! I was also thinking of getting a couple of others which I just reckon everyone should own at some point, such as an Accutron, a modded Seiko, Glycine combat, maybe even a Helson Diver.

I see that there is a thread over on TWF where one of the members here (a mod) is talking about having a custom Marine Master built by Bruce. Lots of members over there have asked where Bruce is now, and how they can contact him. Before I put a link up there directing them here, why hasn't this already been done? I invited one member there to join via PM...(as I was, by PM) but surely to increase membership, we need to put a few links out there? I realise that there may be members of other sites who may not be welcome here, but surely they can be monitored and refused entry at the joining stage?

You were/are a popular member Bruce, and people need to know where you are now.
But I promise you, I won't do anything over there, unless you say it's alright to do so.

The reason I havent put up a link to this forum is because I didnt want the whole "us and them " arguement starting plus I have noticed sometimes when other forums are mentioned it kind of gets frowned upon .

Politics schmolitics, it's all a bit depressing really!
But back to the thread...
In 2017 I plan to carry on tinkering and learn as much as I can before starting a watchmakers course later in the year so I can develop a proper set of skills.
As to watches, I would like to get a bullhead and a panda, but not that likely, I'll probably buy the odd thing that comes up that I like the look of if it's the right price. I also want to get two more birth watches (June 68 and Mar 11) to complete the family. If I can combine any of the above, happy days!
